When a technical expert report makes sense

We prepare court, private, insurance and arbitration reports in the areas of software, IT infrastructure, embedded systems and electronics.

Our claim: technically deep, thoroughly documented and understandable for non-technical stakeholders – so that courts, insurers and companies can take well-founded decisions.

Types of expert reports

Court expert reports

Independent reports in accordance with § 404 ZPO for local, regional and higher regional courts – structured, traceable and court-proof.

Private reports

Securing evidence, damage analysis and second opinions for companies and private clients – before or in parallel to legal proceedings.

Insurance reports

Clarification of root cause and damage amount for IT, software or electronics losses – including technical and economic assessment.

Arbitration reports

Neutral technical assessment to facilitate out-of-court settlements between contracting parties or project stakeholders.

Technical domains

Embedded software & electronics

ECUs, microcontrollers, IoT devices, charging infrastructure and embedded systems – hardware and software combined.

IT systems & infrastructure

Servers, networks, virtualization, cloud and on-premise solutions – stability, security and availability.

Source code & architecture

Code analysis, architecture assessment, maintainability, clean code, technical debt and development processes.

Apps, web & APIs

Mobile apps, web applications, interfaces and APIs – functionality, performance and integration quality.

Automotive & charging

Automotive software, e-mobility, charging infrastructure and communication – including ASPICE and safety context.

Processes & standards

Assessment of processes according to ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 9001 and related quality standards.

Forensics & data loss

Analysis of data loss, system outages and manipulation, including reconstruction and securing of evidence.

Security & quality assessments

Evaluation of security and quality characteristics based on established models (e.g. ISO/IEC 25010).

Process of an expert report

A clearly structured process creates transparency and planning security:

1. Request & scoping – mandate, questions, deadlines and boundary conditions.
2. Document review – contracts, specifications, logs, tickets, source code, hardware and system documentation.
3. Technical analysis – reproduction, measurements, code and system analysis, plausibility checks.
4. Evaluation & reasoning – methodical, traceable, neutral and compliant with relevant standards.
5. Report & presentation – written report including annexes, debriefing with the client.

Note: typical processing time is 2–4 weeks after receipt of all relevant documents (depending on scope).

Typical questions

Typical questions include, among others:

– Does the delivered software comply with the contract and specification?
– Is the root cause a technical defect, user error or organizational issue?
– What caused the outage, data loss or malfunction?
– How should code quality and architecture (reviews, metrics, tests) be evaluated?
– Are processes and evidence (e.g. ASPICE) sufficient?
– What is the financial impact (time, cost, risk)?

Methodology & standards

Our work is based on established norms, methods and quality standards:

– ZPO § 404 ff. (experts), formal requirements according to DIN 5008
– Software quality according to ISO/IEC 25010, process models such as ASPICE and ISO 26262
– GDPR-compliant handling of sensitive data and confidential information
– Clean, reproducible documentation with a clear rationale for all assessments

The result is a comprehensible, robust report with clear evidence.
