Location profile: Area Münster
Infrastructure & lifestyle
Area Münster is attractive for many teams because accessibility, infrastructure and quality of life often work well together – useful for workshops, kickoffs and on-site alignment. During high-pressure phases, short distances often translate into real productivity gains.
Technology & engineering ecosystem
Area Münster often stands for an active engineering ecosystem: suppliers, integrators, and hands-on projects where delivery matters. Many initiatives are cross-functional: requirements ↔ architecture ↔ implementation ↔ test – that’s where quality is decided.
Market context
Depending on project demand, Area Münster can offer solid options – from permanent roles to project-based engagements. Clear scope and responsibilities are key. Compensation varies by seniority, domain and accountability – what really matters is demonstrated project impact.
Tasks
End-to-end development of power electronic assemblies and DC/DC and AC/DC converters for demanding, customer-specific applications, including the medium voltage range.
Autonomous execution of development projects from the initial concept and feasibility study (e.g., evaluating isolated and non-isolated topologies like DAB, LLC, Buck/Boost) through to series production readiness.
Detailed design, calculation, and parameter-based simulation (using tools such as LTspice, Matlab/Simulink, Plecs, or Spice) of analog and digital circuits.
Execution of power loss analyses, thermal simulations, and the conceptualization of protection mechanisms (e.g., to mitigate latent short-circuit risks or overvoltages).
Practical laboratory testing, hardware bring-up of prototypes, as well as the execution of comprehensive EMC and type testing.
Technical guidance and mentoring of interdisciplinary, international engineering teams, as well as close collaboration in hardware-software co-design.
Creation of comprehensive technical specifications and documentation (e.g., E-Plan).
Profile
Successfully completed degree (Diploma/Master's) in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a focus on Power Electronics, Energy Engineering, or a comparable field.
Several years of professional experience developing complex power electronics and profound practical knowledge of various converter topologies (e.g., isolated converters, PFC structures).
Excellent analytical skills along with in-depth expertise in hardware validation and circuit testing (including EMI/EMC measurements, switching-waveform characterization, and environmental testing).
Confident use of common simulation tools (LTspice, Matlab/Simulink) and sound knowledge in the field of control engineering (e.g., loop tuning) and PCB design.
Ideally, experience in parameterizing and designing power semiconductors (e.g., MOSFETs) and passive components.
Fluent German and English skills.
Strong organizational skills, creativity in developing solutions, structured problem-solving competence, and willingness for occasional domestic and international business travel.
Benefits
Attractive, market-oriented remuneration package (aligned with collective agreements of the metal and electrical industry) with additional performance bonuses and financial rewards for personal patents or improvement suggestions.
Excellent work-life balance through flexible working hour models, options for reduced working hours, and attractive mobile work arrangements.
Tailored career and professional development opportunities via structured development planning, internal academies, technical training, and language courses.
Comprehensive health management that includes company medical services, health days, company runs, as well as subsidies for fitness programs (such as Hansefit/Wellpass) and bicycle leasing (Eurorad).
An international working environment with a supportive company climate, long-standing employee tenures, regular team events, and opportunities for global knowledge exchange among colleagues.
